American Tourister was born in 1933, when Sol Koffler fulfilled his dream by investing his savings to create a sturdy suitcase that could be sold for a dollar. Later, with the growth and interest in air travel, he created the lightweight Hi-Taper collection in 1945. It grew so large that in 1993 it was acquired by Samsonite.

It is now present in more than 90 countries and is the second largest luggage brand in the world.
